This series is about portraying the colours and vibrancy of the people. Framed in such a charged atmosphere with so many bodies moving, screaming, sweating, crying, chanting, your attention constantly strays from one bout of passion to the next. Yet, somehow, among the mass of straining muscles, resolute expressions and feats of athletic prowess, I always strayed back to the stands.
While the athletes had tenacity, the onlookers had such a visceral reaction to everything around them, almost as if they were slaves to their expressions, or rather so caught up in moment, they just could not be bothered to don the masks we all wear everyday. That unintentional, overlooked vulnerability is what suffuses this series.
